Our Work

MAITRI: Social adoption of underprivileged children.

This project was born due to acute need in village Sisaume. Young orphaned or neglected children were enrolled in ‘Maitri'.

Twelve children have been admitted in a government school, a caretaker escorts them there. Thereafter they go to the Learning Centre where a teacher helps them with their studies and engages them in board games, puzzles and story sessions. They are provided with nourishment, school clothes and supplies and medical care.

We have a list of fifty children who are waiting to join.

Support to Government Schools in villages

Education is a cornerstone for any development. We have different programmes for government schools. Subject teachers are provided for senior classes in village government schools. Regular tests are taken to ensure results.

4-month courses in English and Math are conducted and this is a continuous process. It has helped more than 350 students in the last 4 years.

We have also supported government school to improve extra-curricular activity. We have been working in eight villages near Udaipur.

School in Dadhicha Village, Udaipur, Rajasthan, India

Tucked in between mountains is the village of Dhadicha a few kms from Udaipur, Rajasthan. The village has about 155 houses comprising mostly of Tribals (Adivasis). The Dhadicha Primary School has two teachers and 45 children studying from classes I-VII. Their parents in almost all cases work as daily wage labour in Udaipur leaving their homes, cattle and younger kids in the care of the older siblings.

We have been supporting the school by providing education material, organizing cultural programmes on Republic Day and Independence Day so that the children can showcase their talent. With gradual support the entire village has been participating and begun enjoying these group activities.
